At The Coop, we have two Community Managers responsible for first impressions, space upkeep, mail, and more.
At The Coop South, we have Kelli Fajardo. Kelli was born and raised in Las Vegas, and lives here now after some time spent in Missouri. When not at work, Kelli likes to draw and watch movies.
Holding down the front desk at The Coop Summerlin is Matthew Shapiro. Matthew grew up in Vegas, and in addition to working at The Coop, he is a freelance writer and certified personal trainer.
Kelli and Matthew work at different locations, so we thought this was the perfect opportunity to have them interview each other so we can learn a little more about them.
Matthew: What was your first impression of The Coop?
Kelli: I thought it was cool to have people working amongst each other. It’s a great way to meet new people and have solid community support.
Matthew: That’s true. I’ve met many people so far and have gotten some helpful advice on growing my writing business. The Coop is all about supporting local businesses- what are some of your favorite places to eat in town?
Kelli: Baby Stacks for breakfast, Sushi Neko for dinner, and Is Sweet for dessert. What are your favorite spots to eat in Vegas?
Matthew: I love Chinatown- Shangs and Izakaya Go are fantastic. Other Mama is also a favorite for special occasions. Do you have any pets?
Kelli: Yes. I have one child, Sophie. She’s a chihuahua terrier mix and she is the most gorgeous, sweet lady in the whole universe. What about you?
Matthew: I have two dogs, Sully and Orzo. They are friendly goldendoodles who love to play keep-away. What do you like to do while you’re hanging with your pup?
Kelli: I love to watch horror and Disney movies. I also enjoy watching TV- one show I can binge and never get tired of is “How I Met Your Mother”. I fall asleep to it every single night before bed. What shows do you like?
Matthew: I can watch “I Think You Should Leave” on Netflix over and over and still laugh out loud. I’m also a big fan of “Mike Tyson’s Mysteries” and other goofy shows from Adult Swim. TV usually keeps me awake at night, but I do like to read before bed. I love everything by Neil Gaiman, especially American Gods.
Kelli: My favorite book has always been “The Twits”.
Dana (The Coop Owner): I am so grateful that you are both here coworking with us. The Coop community is better with you in it. I want to ask you, Matthew and Kelli, what is your favorite thing about working at The Coop?
Kelli: My favorite thing about The Coop is that every single person I have met here is so kind and friendly. I also love how I am always encouraged to be creative, and I have such a great support system.
Matthew: That’s awesome, I agree. There is a really strong sense of community and camaraderie at The Coop. One thing that I noticed is that many of the businesses work together. Local collaboration is in full effect!
